Founder & Lead Designer
Ryan Bourgon, founder and lead designer of Carbon Drafting & Design, brings over fifteen years of specialized experience in the construction and design industries. Raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Ryan grew up immersed in a family of accomplished leaders in the construction sector, sparking his early passion for the field. This foundation led him to establish a successful construction business, which he managed for six years before transitioning to architectural design and drafting, where he has distinguished himself in delivering precise, code-compliant solutions for residential projects.
In spring 2020, Ryan founded Carbon Drafting & Design with a vision to leverage his expertise to support contractors and property owners alike. His commitment to producing detailed, high-quality architectural drawings ensures that projects proceed smoothly from concept to completion.
Ryan holds a Civil Engineering Technology diploma from Algonquin College and has earned his Building Code Identification Number (BCIN 46879) through examinations administered by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. This qualification authorizes him to provide professional design services for residential projects of all sizes in Ontario, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Building Code and municipal standards.
With an in-depth understanding of building permit processes, Ryan ensures that every architectural drawing produced by Carbon Drafting & Design is meticulously crafted to facilitate streamlined permit approvals and provide contractors with clear, actionable plans. Alex Bouterakos, BCIN Certified, Architectural Technologist
Senior Architectural Technologist
Alex Bouterakos is an Architectural Technologist with over 10 years of experience in residential and small commercial design in the Ottawa region. His background includes independent practice, as well as several years working within a structural engineering firm. After graduating from Algonquin College’s Architectural Technology program, Alex began taking on projects directly with homeowners and businesses, gaining valuable hands-on experience in design and construction detailing. These early years helped him develop strong technical skills along with a collaborative approach, working closely with clients, consultants, and builders to bring projects to life.
Through this diverse experience, Alex has become well-versed in structural coordination and engineering details, adding depth and accuracy to his work. He also holds a Building Code Identification Number (BCIN 121624) for House and Small Buildings, qualifying him to take on residential dwellings and small commercial projects. Alex approaches each project as a chance to solve unique design challenges, combining creativity with technical insight to deliver thoughtful, buildable solutions. With clear drawings, reliable timelines, and a cooperative mindset, he ensures projects progress smoothly from concept through to construction.
